The 10 Hottest Liberian Artists Of 2018

2018, woo woo, such a remarkable year for Liberian Music Industry.  Now, what’s a better way to celebrate a fantastic year of 2018 and look forward to an even better 2019, than presenting you with the Top Hottest Liberian Artists of 2018.


Bucky Raw


2018 has been an amazing year for Bucky Raw. He did not play at all. The talented artist combated the stigma of a deportee by breaking records and stealing shows. If he was to get arrested before the end of this year, it will be for stealing the spotlight and he will definitely be found guilty.
Bucky Raw album or mixtape was feature on Billboard music chart, making him the first of his generation to make the prestigious international chart.
The mixtape was also #1 on the iTunes World Music Albums chart and #1 on the Amazon Best Seller International category for digital.
These achievements make the rapper the first and only Liberian artist to have his album/mixtape featured in the top ten of iTunes, Amazon, and Billboard. He went on to prove that his brand is unstoppable with show-stopping performance at Davido's concert in Liberia. Bucky Raw closed out the year with a collaboration with Stunna and Nigerian artist Ice Prince.





Kobazzie 'the Lormaboy' had us grooving to the Lorma swag in 2018. Oh yes!!!

Kobazzie dropped the hottest Liberian song of 2018, "Bounce".  At the 2018 Acana festival in Philadelphia, he had his audience mesmerized with an engaging performance. He has successful built a working relationship with one of Africa's biggest artist "Davido". Kobazzie continue to build his resume with another amazing performance at Davido's concert in Liberia. The artist when on to show support to his new comrade by performing his hit song "Bounce" in Nigeria. Kobazzie also proved that his brand is way more than just music. He successful launched a campaign against sexual violence in Liberia.

3. CIC hit the ground running in 2018. His 2018 resume is solid and long. The artist dropped two hit songs, including his collaboration with Iyana "Weekend" and "Styleyeenen", two quality music videos, became the brand ambassador for MTN Lonestar, completed a successful tour in Australia, and contributed to C Liberia Clearly Zero English Album. CIC is the highest nominee of Liberia Music Awards 2018, receiving a total of ten nominations. CIC has also proven that his brand is more than music by collaborating on a campaign for HIV Awareness. 

4. Stunna is the 2nd highest nominee of Liberia Music Awards 2018. Coming right behind CIC, the artist is nominated seven times. Stunna dropped two hit songs, including his collaboration with Iyana "Balance" and "O Baby". This music video for Balance is creative and a high quality visual. Stunna is currently in Nigeria, collaborating with Bucky Raw and Ice Prince. 

5. Mz Menneh is known for her traditional music. The artist dropped two high quality music videos, dropped a hit song "Tumoh", collaborated with the legendary Mr. Dope, and gave an amazing performance in Canada. Mz Menneh was the highest booked Liberian artist in the USA, this year. The artist also launched a successful campaign for gender equality within the Liberian Music industry. 


6. Mai Myers is hands down, one of the most branded Liberian artist. She did more than focusing on her physical appearance, the artist successful completed her album "I AM Mai Myers". She is the only Liberian female artist to drop an album this year. She is also included on the list of highest booked artist of 2018. 

7. Soul Fresh did a lot of buzzing this year with their just launched album "Unfinished Business". The duo dropped two high quality videos and a hit song "Contend and Pretend". As usual, the pulled in the crowd at the Album Launched event. 

8. Foreign Ward is about that life, work, work and more work. The artist had the Mid-West on lock. His song "Day Break" became an anthem within the Liberian community in the Mid-West. He successfully hosted couple of shows, pulling some of his biggest audience. 



9. Faithvonic scored big this year.  She didn't dropped a hit song but was positively in the limelight all year. Faithvonic became the brand ambassador for Glow Lib, a hair and beauty brand, and gave an amazing performance at the Liberia vs Zimbabwe. The artist also dropped few songs and few videos. 


10. Pillz didn't have a hit song this year, but she did everything to keep her name buzzing all of 2018. The artist just completed a collaboration with upcoming artist Millionaire Tamba Hali. She also uncovered a new talented artist "MC Caro". Pillz went on to launch a Unity Campaign for the Female artists. She dropped few songs and a video.

Learning from my Wrong

I am incredibly hard on myself when it comes to being wrong and making big decisions in life. But, being wrong isn't as bad as we make it out to be. I have made many mistakes and I have discovered few lessons from my experiences. When I look back on my choices from a year ago, I always hope to find a few decisions that seem stupid now because that means I have grown. If you only live in the safety zone where you know you can’t mess up, then you’ll never unleash your true potential.  There is no reason to be depressed or give up simply because you made a few wrong choices. Even more crucial, you must try your best every time because it is the effort and the practice that drives the learning process. They are essential, even if you fail. Realize that no single choice is destined to fail, but that occasional failure is the cost you have to pay if you want to be right. 

We need men

am all about women empowerment. Matter of fact, it is safe to say, I am a feminist. But, when it comes to gender equality, is the scale balance, or starting to tip over? To have a successful community, a successful nation, we need both women and men to succeed equally. We need men to succeed; we need them to marry and raise strong children; we need men as much as women if we are to rebuild the family. Given the daily attacks on manhood in our media and our culture, the odds of creating strong, good men are ever shrinking. Unless we give the same attention to our boys and young men that we give to their female counterparts, the situation will only grow worse. Without a determined effort to raise our sons with the same sense of hope and aspiration given our daughters, to let them know that masculinity is as positive a value as femininity, to teach them honor, courage, and virtue, we will see even fewer intact families, an ongoing sense of hopelessness and despair a
